The Charleston region has built its reputation as a new sports destination largely due to the diversity of its state-of-the art venues and the world-class athletes, who have competed here before thousands of spectators. Then again, Charleston's oldest and largest sports venue simply consists of water – some 91 miles of Atlantic coastline, two major rivers and acres of waterways.

Recreation Fields and Centers
Recreational competitions at the state and regional level often require multiple fields, courts, gyms, etc.,which may not be available in one municipality area. Over the years, our recreation coordinators have given a brand new meaning to the old cliché, “Build it and they will come.” Through collaborative efforts, they have crossed over city boundaries and 'build' partnerships to create unique sports facility schedules to host large events, all for the betterment of economic value to the entire region. These relationships provide great satisfaction to non-local event organizers. That is, the only boundary lines noticed are by their event participants on the playing field.
