as ice-skating, professional bull riding
and college basketball – including
CSU and College of Charleston.
Complimenting the coliseum, is the
200,000+ square-foot convention center
complex, which includes a 2,300-
seat performing arts center. This site
is host to a number of sports competitions
including cheer, dance, body

• South Carolina Stingrays Hockey – With
close to 40 home games a year, this
organization just celebrated 16 years in
the Lowcountry and every season begins in October, with playoffs in April and May. www.stingrayshockey.com
• The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation –
The city opened its first public golf
course in 2000. This 27-hole course has
all the finest amenities, including a
12,900 square foot Clubhouse complete
with a pro shop, restaurant, and meeting
space.

• Riverfront Park – Set on the banks of the
beautiful Cooper River, Riverfront Park
has been built near the historic homes
once occupied by the Naval Base
Admiral and officers. Bordered by
Noisette Creek, the park boasts a
magnificent contemporary Performance
Pavilion and Grand Lawn. The national
Outdoor Sculpture Competition and
Exhibition is installed there. The Greater
Charleston Naval Base Memorial was
dedicated in November of 2007 to honor
the generations of naval and civilian
personnel who served at the base from
1903 until its closure in 1996. A
boardwalk and pier over the Cooper
River has also been completed.
Recreation Activities
North Charleston Wannamaker County
Park is a nature-oriented park designed
for family and group use. It offers more
than 1,015 acres of beautiful woodlands
and wetlands. Miles of paved trails allow
for exploration of the area’s beautiful
