Located just across the Cooper River from Charleston lies the lovely and historic town of Mt. Pleasant. Maybe the fact that a community with more than 60,000 residents chooses to remain a “Town” says it all. Convenient to downtown Charleston by car or by water taxi, there are many things in this quaint harbor town to enjoy...shopping, dinning, sightseeing. But fun is the major industry here and the town has carefully invested its resources to assure that there is no shortage of entertainment and recreation opportunities. Enjoy scrumptious waterfront dining along scenic Shem Creek or take in 18 holes of golf at one of many semi-private golf courses. Fishing and boating are certainly a favorite of locals and four marinas, one big ocean and numerous tidal creeks help accommodate visitors as well. While staying in Mt. Beaches of Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island
- Mount Pleasant is also Charleston’s only access to the barrier island beaches of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. Many retail shops along the way offer equipment rentals for any type of water sport.

North Charleston
The Hub of the Lowcountry
North Charleston is the perfect place to have as a home base for your Lowcountry visit. The City has more than 4,000 affordable to luxury hotel rooms, a wide selection of restaurants, entertainment complexes, shopping malls and specialty shops, and is central to accessing area attractions. Tanger Outlet is its newest attraction with more than 90 brand name outlet stores, just minutes away from the Charleston International Airport, the busiest passenger airport in the state.
An intergral part of the Convention Center Complex, is the North Charleston Coliseum, a 13,600-seat facility home to the South Carolina Stingrays Hockey team. It also stages a variety of other sports events, such as ice-skating and college basketball – including the Southern Conference Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament, March 6-10.
Complimenting the coliseum, is the 200,000+ square-foot convention center complex, which includes a 2,300-seat performing arts center. No matter what your purpose is for visiting the Charleston area, you will enjoy North Charleston for its variety, convenience and affordability.

Riverfront Park
- Set on the banks of the beautiful Cooper River, Riverfront Park has been built near the historic homes once occupied by the Naval Base Admiral and officers, surrounded by graceful old oak trees and peaceful river vistas. Bordered by Noisette Creek, the park boasts a magnificent contemporary Performance Pavilion and Grand Lawn. The national Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition is installed there. Future plans include the Shipyard Memorial and Boardwalk.

- North Charleston Wannamaker County Park is a nature-oriented park designed for family and group use. It offers more than 1,015 acres of beautiful woodlands and wetlands. Miles of paved trails allow for exploration of the area’s beautiful natural resources.
