Charleston Metro Sports Council

CMSC Mission Statement: “To promote the Charleston region as a
premier sports travel destination.”
CMSC Vision: “To promote awareness, interest and appreciation for the local sports economy and encouraging youth and adults to
become involved in the local sports scene as participants, spectators,
volunteers, event sponsors and partners.”
Organized in 1999, the Charleston Metro Sports
Council, Inc. (CMSC) is a 501c6 non-profit organization and serves the Charleston sports travel
market as the premier source for all sports information, contacts and referrals.
In partnership with the Charleston Area
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB), the
organization is an auxillary division, serving the local
and national sports industry as the primary promoter
for all sports events.
Over the last decade, it has become the region’s
central sports agency, providing assistance and
support services to event planners. Staff has built an
impressive “portfolio” and are well positioned to
provide a number of services, within each phase of
staging an event.

The Charleston Metro Sports Council is the region’s central sports development agency, providing assistance and support services to local and out-of-town event organizers. With the support of local municipalities, businesses and associations, the CMSC has taken on a number of roles within the local sports community. After building an impressive “portfolio” over the last decade, it has established itself as an event planner, a local organizing committee (LOC), a professional researcher, a sports publicist, a local/national media contact and a sports event recruiter. The CMSC is a one-stop, “referral” shop for all event organizers to successfully stage any type of sports event, whether it is a first time, homegrown competition or world-class, highly competitive-bid event. The ultimate goal is to ensure each event is a financial success for its beneficiaries and an economic success for the Charleston community.
